About the event
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. “ – African Proverb If you’re not sure what’s next, this is your invitation: to lead. Being a leader means taking this knowledge back to your community, and creating action where you can. An ally is a lifetime commitment, and just like learning to walk, it can be messy. We will begin with a workshop on Allyship with Niche Faulkner, then open up the virtual floor for you to share town hall-style. This Town Hall will be slightly different. White people and BIPOC have different needs and roles at this time. It is for this reason, we will offer 2 separate spaces, and opportunities. Jaimis Huff and Grace Millsap will host a room for white people to process openly, and without creating further harm. Niche will host a room for BIPOC for healing, and connection. This event is free. If white people would like to make a donation, you are encouraged to do so when you sign up for the event through SweatNET’s website. The donations will be divided between Amplify & Activate, and Niche Faulkner for her time, and effort in creating the educational workshop. Amplify & Activate is an interactive, inquiry based, learning community grounded at the intersection of yoga, social justice and self care. Amplify & Activate provides opportunities for continued learning within the Charlotte community, and beyond. Upon sign up, you will receive a Zoom link on the order confirmation page and to your inbox. Please note: This is not a space for debating or challenging others’ experiences. This is a space for learning and receiving.
